International recruiter Harvey Nash has announced ‘excellent’ financial results in its first Interim Management Statement for the financial year ending 31 January 2010.

For the year ended 31 January 2009, turnover grew by 32%, gross profit was up 18% and profit before tax jumped by 25%.

Revenues were up 3% compared to the previous year.

HR services provider Ceridian has appointed Jennifer Stacey to chief people officer.

Stacey will report directly to UK managing director Doug Sawers as part of the senior leadership team, and will be responsible for continuing to develop Ceridian’s people initiatives and expand the company’s client base.

Jo Hand Recruitment is beating the recession by winning six contracts worth an estimated £10m to fill jobs over the next two to six years.

The contracts are with Darlington and Stockton borough councils and the others with major companies, which were not identified, in the Tees Valley. The wins came within the last two months.

The Monster Employment Index edged up one percentage point in June, recovering slightly from a 2% drop in May. However, overall the index was 38% down on the same month a year ago.

A report on directors’ remuneration has highlighted the limited levels of pay disclosure by AIM 100 companies.

The 2009 Report on FTSE AIM 100 Directors’ Remuneration by executive remuneration specialist Hewitt New Bridge Street reveals that the total reward is around 30-40% lower in AIM 100 companies compared to equivalently sized FTSE SmallCap companies.

Multi-sector recruiter FiveTen Group has appointed former Hudson managing director Gary Lazzarotto as chief executive of its Asia-Pacific region.

The former chief executive for Hudson across Asia will replace Chris Digby, who is leaving the group.

Multi-sector recruiter Barker Ross has won a major contract to supply flexible staff to waste management provider Veolia Environmental Services.

Barker Ross will provide staff on a flexible, subcontract basis to cope with peaks in Veolia’s workload. The agency will also focus on supplying local staff to Veolia’s Nottinghamshire sites.

International HR consulting group Penna has appointed Anne Riley as managing director of Penna’s Recruitment Marketing and Communications business, which includes Penna Barkers, Penna TCS and Penna Creative Communications. 

The former chief executive of Austin Knight UK and MD of Bartlett Merton, Riley is the current MD of Penna Creative Communications.
