The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) has written to Pat McFadden, the minister for employment relations, criticising the government department’s ‘Know your rights campaign’ for agency workers.

In the letter, Ann Swain, APSCo’s chief executive, argues that  the leaflet promotes and encourages stereotyping of agency workers. 

US retained executive search firm DavenportMajor has been selected for three searches.

First is the senior vice president of technology for consumer electronics company SkinIt. Secondly, the newly created role of infection prevention medical advisor for technology firm 3M. And finally, vice president of quality assurance for medical devices manufacturer Volcano Corporation.

US retained executive search firm Halbrecht Lieberman Associates has completed a search for a vice president of infrastructure services for the Ingram Book Group in Nashville, Tennessee. The selected candidate is Michael Jones, a managing consultant in Atlanta.

Training firm Pareto Law has signed a new global training agreement with US independent financial advisory and investment banking services provider Duff & Phelps.

Pareto Law will deliver training in the areas of consultative selling, presentation skills and relationship management as well as effective telephone skills and negotiation skills.

It is better to be a generalist with good technical experience rather than a specialist, according to HR recruiters.

A raft of new workplace rights, including the right to request flexible working for employees with children aged up to 16, come into force today.
