Service sector activity continued to rise in May, according to the latest Markit/CIPS index.
The headline seasonally adjusted business activity index posted a reading of 55.4 in May, marginally up on April’s 55.3.

A suspected rogue gangmaster has been arrested and a warrant executed at his home address in Wolverhampton in connection with the unlawful supply of labour.
The arrest was made by the Gangmasters Licensing Authority in a joint operation with West Midlands police local policing team at Birmingham Road police station, Wolverhampton.
