Overlaying these new functions, Lattice’s new AI Agent Platform allows companies to build their own agents. Employees will be able to create their own AI agents that can be customised to their data, roles and systems.

Green energy firm aims to bring skilled jobs to Kent

Hydrogen TE (UK) is seeking planning permission from Kent County Council to build the UK’s first waste-to-hydrogen base at a 10-acre site in Manston, near Ramsgate. The project aims to convert household and commercial waste into clean hydrogen, significantly cutting landfill and carbon emissions.

According to a report from news site BDaily, bosses say the jobs would include skilled and graduate roles, alongside a training centre to foster local talent. The hydrogen produced will supply commercial heavy vehicle fleets and waste management operations, helping meet UK net-zero targets.

Michael Engsted, Hydrogen TE managing director, says: “This area of Kent has seen a huge depletion in jobs over the past few decades, which has forced many skilled workers and graduates to relocate.

“We are determined to help revitalise the local community by giving talented individuals a reason for staying here. We are committed to prioritising local recruitment for positions including finance, engineering and science.”

According to BDaily, the company also has plans to expand with a second plant near Newport, Wales. Joint MD Jeremy Parkin adds: “We are keen to establish the standard for plants like this, which will one day become a familiar sight across the UK.”

Aston University has announced a new initiative, guaranteeing all full-time master’s students a professional internship as part of their studies. Launching in September 2025, the Postgraduate Guaranteed Internship Scheme will be available to students enrolled in MSc, MA and MBA programmes at both the Birmingham and London campuses.

This scheme is designed to enhance employability by providing high-quality industry placements lasting between one and six months. These internships may be conducted in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid format, and will be facilitated through Aston’s global network of employers. The initiative is available to both UK and international students.

• Worcestershire-based Four Squared Recruitment has launched its new Recruitment Academy, a strategic initiative aimed at developing early careers and entry-level talent. ManpowerGroup has launched the Work Intelligence Lab, a new global initiative designed to help employers and workers understand and adapt to the impact of AI on jobs and skills. With over half of employers (53%) already using AI in hiring and onboarding, the Lab provides real-time insights into how automation is transforming the labour market. The Lab leverages Manpower Group’s workforce data, drawn from millions of placements over 70 countries, and integrates real-time hiring trends, employer demand and worker sentiment. Activ People HR has launched a Welsh version of its Activ People HR Software. It is the 10th language version of its suite of flexible online HR solutions and the company says it wants to support Welsh businesses and enable their staff to use the technology in their preferred or native language.

Arctic Shores, a behaviour-based assessment company for recruitment, has partnered with talent acquisition suite SmartRecruiters to create a new hiring experience for both recruiters and candidates. The platform lets leading employers uncover potential from thousands of applications without manually screening CVs. SmartRecruiters customers can now invite candidates to complete Arctic Shores’ online assessment where intuitive tasks replace stress-inducing questions, and every candidate gets instant feedback.

• South Yorkshire-based recruitment consultancy Glu Recruit has launched a new website and evolved its brand identity. The new website has been developed to make the jobseeking process more streamlined for candidates, enabling them to easily register for job alerts and apply for vacancies tailored to their individual skills sets and job requirements. The website is designed to generate more inbound candidate enquiries and will benefit employers across the Sheffield City Region as candidates are matched quickly and more accurately to vacancies.

Graphnet Health has launched a nationwide graduate programme to provide talent with learning and career development opportunities. The Graphnet Graduate Programme provides on-the-job, project-based training over a period of 24 months. Opportunities are available in software engineering, product development, population health analytics, IT support, corporate functions and more.

HSQ Recruitment, which specialises in civil engineering, rail, construction and highway recruitment, has moved to a new office in Elland, West Yorkshire. The firm says the new premises are designed to meet its growing requirements.

Coventry University graduate Hakim Mohamed has launched HyreHub, an app that is designed to help students and young professionals find skilled freelance opportunities. Mohamed aims to help his young peers to market themselves to employers, secure regular freelance work and bolster their skilled work portfolio. He has teamed up with fellow young entrepreneurs Adam Oyekola and Dami Adebayo to further develop the initiative.

• North-East-based recruitment and HR specialist Jackson Hogg is expanding into Tees Valley with office space at the Haverton Hill Offshore Base. Opening its office with a team of eight people, the recruiter is already planning to increase its headcount to 20 in the coming months as it supports the industrial and tech-led regeneration of the area. With an existing office in Newcastle, and a US-based team supporting US tech clients, Jackson Hogg employs more than 90 people.

JobAdder has launched its new website as part of a major branding project. The global recruitment software provider says the brand refresh focuses on the theme of “adding joy to the job of recruitment”. Its new website incorporates educational and informative resources for customers and partners such as blog content, e-books, reports, job descriptions, information on the platform’s latest technology features and much more.

Premier Group Recruitment has announced that it has expanded internationally and launched its first office in Sydney, Australia. The recruitment firm says it will be launching its technology and engineering brands in the country.

• The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) has partnered with Adam Tobias from Inventum Group to deliver equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) training programme for the recruitment sector. Those who complete the course and pass the course online assessment will earn an industry recognised Inclusive+ Recruiter badge to demonstrate to end hirers that they are fully trained in diverse recruitment practices.

• Independent food brand Charlie Bigham’s has launched its Level 2 Food and Drink Operator apprenticeship scheme. The qualification has been developed in collaboration with Bridgwater College and is available to current Bigham’s team members as well as those seeking to begin a career in food production. The selection process for the 12-month scheme begins in spring and starts in July 2022. Apprentices will also gain qualifications in food safety and health and safety.

• The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) has launched a new skills toolkit to help food and drink manufacturers across the UK access resources and information to recruit jobseekers of all ages. The toolkit offers support to companies in the sector to understand and identify the job finding and training schemes best suited to help them build and upskill their workforce. It also provides information on how to source jobseekers for apprenticeship roles and how to access the £1k grant for every employee taken on through the scheme.

• Biotech and life sciences recruitment company Hartmann Young has announced that it is moving to larger headquarters in Toronto Square, Leeds. The firm has also opened a new office in Mayfair, London, to accommodate a larger team in the capital.

• Recruitment expert Hays has expanded its engineering offering to meet growing demand in the market across the UK and Ireland. Headed by Paul Gibbens, director of Hays Engineering, the business area has grown its headcount by 289% since 2020 and is continuing to hire for both experienced and entry level recruitment professionals. Its Centres for Excellence for engineering recruitment are based London, Bristol, the Midlands, Leeds, Scotland, Liverpool, Northern Ireland, Grimsby, Burnley and in March, the team will begin recruiting for engineering talent in Dublin, Ireland.

Nexford University has launched its global mentorship programme Global Grid to develop talent and promote the personal, professional and social success of learners worldwide. It will enable talent across the world to prepare for remote jobs and increase awareness around jobs that are moving online, and the skills learners need to have to qualify for these jobs.

Tiger Recruitment has launched a finance and accounting division. The division will source finance and accounting talent at all levels for employers across London, the UK and around the world. It will be led by recruitment consultant Beverley Barbarash.
