Overlaying these new functions, Lattice’s new AI Agent Platform allows companies to build their own agents. Employees will be able to create their own AI agents that can be customised to their data, roles and systems.

Green energy firm aims to bring skilled jobs to Kent

Hydrogen TE (UK) is seeking planning permission from Kent County Council to build the UK’s first waste-to-hydrogen base at a 10-acre site in Manston, near Ramsgate. The project aims to convert household and commercial waste into clean hydrogen, significantly cutting landfill and carbon emissions.

According to a report from news site BDaily, bosses say the jobs would include skilled and graduate roles, alongside a training centre to foster local talent. The hydrogen produced will supply commercial heavy vehicle fleets and waste management operations, helping meet UK net-zero targets.

Michael Engsted, Hydrogen TE managing director, says: “This area of Kent has seen a huge depletion in jobs over the past few decades, which has forced many skilled workers and graduates to relocate.

“We are determined to help revitalise the local community by giving talented individuals a reason for staying here. We are committed to prioritising local recruitment for positions including finance, engineering and science.”

According to BDaily, the company also has plans to expand with a second plant near Newport, Wales. Joint MD Jeremy Parkin adds: “We are keen to establish the standard for plants like this, which will one day become a familiar sight across the UK.”

Aston University has announced a new initiative, guaranteeing all full-time master’s students a professional internship as part of their studies. Launching in September 2025, the Postgraduate Guaranteed Internship Scheme will be available to students enrolled in MSc, MA and MBA programmes at both the Birmingham and London campuses.

This scheme is designed to enhance employability by providing high-quality industry placements lasting between one and six months. These internships may be conducted in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid format, and will be facilitated through Aston’s global network of employers. The initiative is available to both UK and international students.

• Worcestershire-based Four Squared Recruitment has launched its new Recruitment Academy, a strategic initiative aimed at developing early careers and entry-level talent. The Academy supports new entrants with structured training, mentorship, and hands-on experience to prepare them for the demands of a competitive job market. ManpowerGroup has launched the Work Intelligence Lab, a new global initiative designed to help employers and workers understand and adapt to the impact of AI on jobs and skills. With over half of employers (53%) already using AI in hiring and onboarding, the Lab provides real-time insights into how automation is transforming the labour market. The Lab leverages Manpower Group’s workforce data, drawn from millions of placements over 70 countries, and integrates real-time hiring trends, employer demand and worker sentiment. It aims to give organisations clearer visibility into emerging skill requirements, role changes and workforce dynamics.

New jobs as Northern Ireland prepares for gold rush?

Sperrin Mountains: Is there gold in them thar hills?

The Financial Times reports that Dalradian Resources has applied for permission to develop a mine in the Sperrin Mountains, County Tyrone.

And the plans have moved a step closer after two investment groups injected a total of £45m into the project.

If given the go-ahead, the development could help to transform the local area, which is one of the poorest in the UK.

The development faces hurdles, however. The proposed site sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and politicians have raised environmental concerns.

Dalradian CEO Patrick Anderson said he expects the approval process to take about two years.

• Marketing recruitment agency Denholm Associates claims it is launching Scotland’s first “employer brand” consultancy. Denholm said the Inside Out venture, headed by advertising stalwart Mark Gorman and HR specialist Keith Thompson alongside Nicki and John Denholm, will help the SME sector stand out when it comes to hiring staff.

Denholm CEO Nicki Denholm said: “Many companies invest heavily in their consumer or trade brand for their products or services but don’t invest at all in their employer brand and this leads to a disappointing employee experience. We’re on a mission to change that.”

• Global cloud and network provider Interoute has launched its 2017 graduate scheme in Nottingham, looking for talented candidates in technology and finance roles.

The 12-month scheme provides science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) graduates with an intensive training programme that builds experience, business acumen and offers the opportunity to progress into technical and managerial roles. There are 10 positions available in total, five in the cloud division and five in finance.

Invenias, a cloud-based platform for executive and strategic hiring, has introduced the Invenias GDPR Module – the latest update to its flagship product Invenias 9.

The Invenias GDPR Module, part of the Invenias Global Data Privacy Framework, allows Invenias customers to manage data privacy in accordance with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May next year.

The module comprises of options to globally manage data privacy preferences, manage the requirements to inform, manage consent (if and where required) and to manage the requirement for the right to be forgotten and data subject access requests.

• Wales-based recruiter Sphere Solutions is to open a new office in Calgary, Canada. The Cardiff-headquartered company said it has set its sights on the North America market after reporting considerable growth in demand for its services throughout Wales and the South-West of the UK.

The international move is part of an ambitious three-year strategy, which will see Sphere boost its brand profile and increase its turnover to £40m.

• US Staffing 360 Solutions has announced that its Monroe Staffing Solutions subsidiary will open an office in Fort Mill, South Carolina, one of the state’s fastest-growing cities and a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina.

The new office, which will be operational on Thursday [30 November], will offer light industrial and professional staffing services, in addition to a contingent workforce management programme. It will be the group’s first location in South Carolina and continues Staffing 360 Solutions’ expansion strategy along the US eastern seaboard.

It is also intended to further expand the company’s offering towards the South Carolina city of Greenville, home of the Michelin tyre company’s North American headquarters, and onward to Atlanta, Georgia while providing direct access to Charlotte.

• Specialist transport & logistics recruiter Driver Hire has launched a campaign to coincide with Road Safety Week (20-26 November), highlighting the dangers of speeding.

During Road Safety Week, Driver Hire will be pushing out the ‘Speed down, save lives’ message on social media, as well as printed resources including an A2 poster on the dangers of speed, which it can share with customers and clients.

• National recruitment firm Encore Personnel is launching ‘Agency Passport’ in response to increased security measures at UK airports. Documentation contained in the Agency Passport includes applicant forms, ID checks, reference files, declarations, aviation clearance and proof of relevant skills and qualifications.

In addition, all Encore Personnel candidates will meet the compliance standards as instructed by the CAA, including a five-year checkable work history, proof of a valid level D certificate (Cargo Operative Course), a DBS check and tamper-proof ID card.

Lucy Dean, senior consultant at Encore Personnel, says: “Each candidate with the potential to work in UK airports requires a set of documents to ensure they have a ‘work ready’ status, completed in line with Heathrow online standards and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) audit status, as well as meeting our own high internal audit criteria.”

Roles where the new system operates include wing staff, ground staff, forklift truck drivers and warehouse cargo operatives. Encore says the introduction of Agency Passport will mean a lower candidate processing time for clients, as candidates will be able to acquire the relevant airside and landside clearance “more quickly and efficiently”.

CHOOZ, an online marketplace that connects models, promotional staff and hostesses with event organisers, has launched in the UK.

• Technology platform Geektastic has officially launched. The platform is supported by a community of experienced global software engineers who personally review coding challenges to evaluate candidates’ skills, as part of the tech recruitment process.

Completed code challenges are reviewed by the community’s ‘UberGeeks’ – experienced software engineers, who also provide constructive performance feedback to candidates. To join the UberGeek community, developers must excel at multiple coding challenges and also perform ‘dummy’ assessments to ensure their reviewing skills match their coding capabilities.

More than 5,000 developers have joined the Geektastic and 80 developers are now earning a secondary income as UberGeeks by reviewing code challenges. Skyscanner, Accenture, Go Compare and Just Giving are among the organisations already using Geektastic to support their tech recruitment process.

• Online classifieds platform Gumtree has launched Madgex-built jobs board Jobs from Gumtree.

PMP Recruitment, part of Cordant Group, has developed and launched Cordant Connect – a web application that allows candidates to register with the company from home. The app, optimised for smartphones and tablets, aims to speed up the registration process for candidates seeking work placements, while also allowing PMP’s in-branch teams more time to focus on the candidate experience.

The app also gives candidates the option to automatically upload photographic proof of the necessary ID documentation online, rather than photocopying their passports or driving licences in branch. Following the online registration process, candidates will only require a short face-to-face appointment with PMP staff to verify information ahead of any work placement.

Cordant Connect has been initially rolled out for PMP, ahead of a more extensive implementation across Cordant Group at a later date.

• Real estate staffing specialist RealRec has been launched by Henry Taylor. Taylor was previously head of property recruitment at London-based recruiter Osborne Richardson.

• People assessment tool provider Thomas International has launched an online calculator aimed at helping businesses calculate the cost of staff retention and recruitment within their organisations.

Free to use, the Recruitment and Retention Savings Calculator uses algorithms to work out the cost of recruitment and staff turnover and the potential savings that can be made by hiring the right employees. Information on company size, industry sector, employee turnover, average salary and hire costs are used to estimate the average appointment cost per new recruit and the potential savings that can be made.
