$6m-valued AI start-up Alfa AI plans to revolutionise recruitment

An AI recruitment start-up has secured more than $625,000 (£494,500) to place the company at a valuation of $6m.

Alfa AI’s latest round of funding was led by UK-based Fuel Ventures, a venture capital and investment fund.

Alfa AI says it is “building the world’s first intelligent AI Recruiter tool, which it says can instantly “find, screen and connect employers” with the top 1% of candidates.

However, Alfa is not a replacement, but works to aid recruitment professionals and help automate the admin side of recruitment so that hiring managers are able to focus on speaking to candidates and other key facets of the face-to-face side of recruitment.

Co-founded by Alfie Whattam (CEO), Ed Godshaw (CTO) and Dr Linda Yu, PhD (chief research officer), the tool is also said to have no gender or racial bias and will seek to improve DE&I by supporting underrepresented minorities.

Whattam said: “Recruiting is broken. It’s a slow and manual process, with extremely expensive hiring fees and hundreds of unsuitable applications. Hiring managers are frustrated, and candidates are burnt out applying to job advert after job advert and then never hearing back.

“That’s why we have built Alfa. Our AI Agent is capable of millions of calls simultaneously, in any language, at 97% lower cost than a human.”

Mark Pearson, founder of Fuel Ventures, said: “We back founders who are solving real-world problems with cutting-edge technology, and Alfa is doing exactly that. Recruitment is long overdue for disruption, and Alfa’s AI-driven approach has the potential to revolutionise how businesses find and hire top talent.”
