HR GO rejects accusations aired in Radio 4 report

A recruitment company that has been identified in a BBC Radio 4 File on 4 report about mini umbrella companies as having recruited at least one worker who was employed by a MUC has told Recruiter it “rejects any suggestion” that it engages in “illegal, fraudulent or exploitative behaviour”.

In a statement sent to Recruiter today (11 May 2021), a spokesperson for HR GO said: “We are satisfied that the way in which we manage our supply chain is legal and in harmony with guidance from HMRC [HM Revenue & Customs]. Where we outsource our labour requirements, we conduct regular and detailed due diligence on our supply chain partners to ensure the credibility, legitimacy and legal/tax compliance of suppliers, clients, employees and labour supply arrangements.”

“HR GO strongly rejects any suggestion that it engages in illegal, fraudulent or exploitative behaviour.”

HR GO was asked by Recruiter how they would explain comments from a worker, said to be recruited by HR GO for an NHS Test centre. The NHS outsources its employment practice to provider G4S; HR GO, in turn, recruits on G4S’s behalf. However, this particular worker was paid, according to his pay slip, by an organisation he had not heard of.

HR GO is a corporate member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC). The REC said yesterday in a statement it would be discussing the issue with the company.

The spokesperson said there would be no further comment from HR GO at this time.
