Acorn’s founder and MD Matt Southall announces departure

Matt Southall (pictured), founder and managing director of Acorn Recruitment, is leaving his post.

One of Wales’ most recognised business brands, the Newport-headquartered agency was founded in 1992. Since then, the brand has expanded to 60 branches across the UK, Poland, Portugal and Australia. Its combined annual turnover is around £180m, according to a company statement.

Estimates suggest that Acorn has placed 2.7m people into new temporary and permanent roles.

Southall has close ties with Welsh football and the Football Association of Wales, and most recently led the joint Acorn/FAW initiative CEO Kickabout, which brings company directors together for a day of football with former Welsh international players. This raises funds for the FAW Trust, helping to create access to sport for young girls and children from disadvantaged backgrounds in particular.

Acorn’s parent company since 2006 is French company Synergie.
