Biffa wastes no time in creating jobs in County Durham

A waste management company in County Durham is to create 100 new jobs in the country.

The Northern Echo reports Biffa is opening a new £27.5m plant in Seaham that will recycle more than a billion single-use plastic bottles a year.

Biffa’s investment in the new facility is part of its ongoing drive to invest in the UK’s recycling infrastructure to allow more waste to be recycled at home.

The additional 100 jobs will bolster plant Biffa’s established presence in the region where it already employs around 1,600 people.
