Recruitment industry recognises World Kindness Day with kind acts

A photoshoot for a calendar in aid of a cancer charity and flowers from contractors for a job well done are among the acts of kindness recruiters have seen this World Kindness Day.

To mark today’s event, Recruiter spoke to agency leaders about some of the acts of kindness they have encountered in the world of recruitment.

David Taylor, managing director at First Point Group, said one of the nicest things he often sees is his payroll team being sent flowers or gifts from contractors who have been helped out with things like an advance, or an early payment, when they are in a tight spot.

“It’s a lovely gesture from the contractors, and always reminds me that the payments team are a key customer facing area – and ours are worth their weight in gold,” Taylor told Recruiter.

Meanwhile Charmaine Vincent, CEO of Baltimore Consulting, told Recruiter she is particularly proud of the 24 men and women, who will this Saturday take part in a photoshoot for a calendar in aid of Cancer Research.

“Despite feeling vulnerable, the greater cause was paramount and I’m proud to say that eight of those people work for Baltimore Consulting.

“I’m holding an event at Ashton Gate next year on World Cancer day and I have no doubt that this act of kindness will help save lives.”

And Kate Simpson, senior vice president, human resources director (UK), Staffing 360 Solution, told Recruiter the agency strives to encourage gratitude and an appreciation of effort and commitment to how it manages and recognises its employees.

“We have a global Life Events programme, where we not only celebrate the positive events in our employees’ lives but we also lean in and offer support when they are perhaps in most need of some additional care.

“It is these little moments of compassion and care that define our organisational culture. I have personally been on the receiving end of many acts of personal kindness in our organisation, and I would encourage industry leaders to consider the power that exists in supporting and leading with kindness. The impact this has on individuals, teams, and organisational motivation, loyalty and performance, is paramount.

“It really is the little, thoughtful and meaningful acts that count.”
