Scarlett takes a punt on continuing in The Apprentice

On to week five on the BBC reality TV series The Apprentice but is the sector’s representative still in the competition?

The answer is yes – hoorah! And what’s more she was on the winning team again, in a challenge that saw the teams head to the historic university cities of Oxford and Cambridge to procure nine items that are associated with both places at the cheapest price possible.

Half of the team headed to Oxford, while the other half travelled to Cambridge but with the added difficulty of having no clues as to which of the cities the various items were located in. A quant, a rigger jigger and a pre-WWII edition of one of the Alice in Wonderland collection of books were just some of the items that baffled both teams to a greater or lesser degree.

Our Scarlett’s team managed to secure all but one item of the required nine – failing to get hold of a bushel box (or ‘bushy box’ as Thomas ‘tails-you-win-heads-I-lose’ Skinner described it), while the opposing team only found seven of the items and paid loads more for most of them too. 

Although Riyonn Farsad was fired by Lord Sugar, the jury’s out as to whether the whole of his team should have gone after none of them knew when WWII began… or that a mortar board was something that plasterers used...
