Willy Wonka, eat your heart out! Apply for the Golden Ticket to be a chocolate taster

Mars Wrigley, the makers of Maltesers, Snickers and Mars bars, is recruiting eight taste testers.

Recruiter Adecco is advertising the temporary roles – 12 hours, four days a week – and states recruits will be paid between £9.76 and £10.25 an hour.

All that is required is for applicants to have good taste buds, as aspiring tasters will need to give their verdict on different foods ranking them on a scale from 1 to 15 for how sweet, savoury, bitter or salty they are. Those who impress the most will be invited to take the role.

They will then undergo six months’ training with Mars Wrigley, before starting work in Slough. But you’d better be quick: applications close on Monday (8 July).
