Equi’s expands and creates new jobs thanks to Scottish funding

Ice cream maker Equi’s is creating new jobs amid a move to bigger premises and an increased workforce following a £690k funding package from regional development agency Scottish Enterprise.

According to a statement, released by Scottish Enterprise late last week, the family-run firm has outgrown its current home in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. With support from Scottish Enterprise the firm is set to move to nearby premises four times the size of its existing plant, safeguarding nine jobs and creating a further six, and increasing its ice cream output to 3m litres per year.

The funding is a combination of a £200k Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) Grant and £490k from the Scottish Loan Scheme, part of the Scottish Government’s Scottish Growth Scheme.
