Facebook creates 500 new jobs in new London centre

Facebook is to create 500 new jobs by the end of the year at a new engineering centre in Soho, London.

The social media giant’s new centre will build tools and artificial intelligence (AI) systems to detect and remove harmful content and behaviour from the social networking site.

Around 100 of the jobs will be in AI, while “a significant number” will be in its community integrity team, which works on preventing spam and abuse, removing fake accounts and tackling violence and personal safety.

The new office will take the number of Facebook London employees to more than 3,000 people across its three sites in the capital – the company’s biggest engineering hub outside of the US.
