NASA looks to freelancers to find the Gateway for space-age design

US space agency NASA is on the hunt for freelancers to create designs to represent its Gateway spaceship programme.

Gateway will deliver the first permanent human base to orbit around the Moon and will shuttle astronauts to and from the lunar surface.

NASA is once again tapping online freelancing and crowdsourcing marketplace Freelancer.com to aid its search for designers that can “graphically convey the key theme of space exploration and what the Gateway represents”.

The move follows on from similar previous crowdsourcing contests run by NASA on the Freelancer.com marketplace, such as the Astrobee Challenges Series.
