Working on commute could breach NMW rules, recruiters are warned

Any move to include work emails sent during the commute as working time could result in recruiters falling foul of National Minimum Wage (NMW) rules, lawyers have warned.
The warning follows BBC reports late last week on a recommendation from a researcher at the University of the West of England. The university’s research revealed commuters are so regularly using travel time for work emails that their journeys should be counted as part of the working day.
