Recruitment director jailed for spending VAT payments on luxury homes

A recruitment agency director, found to have stolen more than £470k in VAT payments and spending it on houses and a luxury holiday home, has been jailed for 27 months.

A statement, released by HM Revenue & Customs this morning, reveals Shaun Clark, of Wellcroft Grove, Tingley, Wakefield, who ran recruitment agencies Maxim Healthcare Ltd and Iron Bridge (Yorkshire) Ltd, was found to have pocketed the VAT he charged his customers rather than pass it on to HMRC.
