Enamoured with avocados? US university study will pay you to eat them

Are you an avocado aficionado? If so, you can actually get paid to eat them.

Researchers at four US universities are recruiting 1,000 people to eat avocados for six months as part of a study into weight loss or gain.

California-based Loma Linda University (LLU), alongside Penn State University, Tufts University and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) are all taking part in the study.

The recruits – 250 at each university – will be split into two groups, with one group asked to eat one avocado per day for the entire six months, while the other 125 will only have to eat two avocados per month.

Selected candidates will then have to undergo tests to assess their weight loss or gain. Recruits will be paid £230 for the duration of the research project.

The criteria is you will need to be over the age of 25 and measure at least 40in (102cm) around the waist for males, and 35in (89cm) for women. Oh, and you will need to relocate to the US … and you have to eat avocados [not everyone on the Recruiter team is a fan of the green delicacy].
