Three charged with modern slavery offences in Rochdale

Three people face charges as part of an investigation into modern slavery in Rochdale.

ITV News reports Naliah Noreen, Ratib Ali, both of Royds Street West, and Junaid Rehman of Peters Street (all in Rochdale) have been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Noreen and Ali also face charges related to arranging to facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation under the Modern Slavery Act.

The three men all appeared at Manchester and Salford City Magistrates’ Court yesterday and have been remanded in custody.

In April of this year, an investigation into modern slavery and the supply of Class A drugs in Rochdale was launched.

Detectives from Rochdale Borough’s Operation Challenger team partnered with the local authority when it was suspected that vulnerable young people were being exploited.
