Marshall retires at year-end as Adecco makes management changes

John Marshall (pictured) will retire as regional head of North America, UK & Ireland, professional staffing at recruitment giant Adecco at the end of 2018.

Sergio Picarelli, Adecco’s current head of Italy, Eastern Europe and MENA, will take over from Marshall.

Marshall took on the newly created role of head of North America, UK & Ireland in April 2017. He was previously CEO of UK & Ireland, having taken over this role from Peter Searle in September 2015. Searle went on to set up global workforce solutions provider Airswift.

In a statement, released this morning, Adecco revealed Marshall will retire on 31 December 2018, with Picarelli taking over the reins as head of North America, UK & Ireland, professional staffing. However, the group adds Picarelli is to retain global oversight of Adecco brands Lee Hecht Harrison, General Assembly, Badenoch & Clark and Spring Professional, and expand his remit to also include Pontoon.

Meanwhile, Enrique Sanchez will assume responsibility for Italy, Eastern Europe and MENA, and will continue to be responsible for Iberia, while Federico Vione, regional head of North America, UK & Ireland, general staffing will take over additional responsibility for Latin America from Enrique Sanchez.

Also leaving the group at the end of the year is chief sales and innovation officer Franz-Josef Schürmann, who has decided to pursue opportunities outside Adecco. His position will not be replaced.

Commenting on the changes to the group’s management structure, Adecco CEO Alain Dehaze said the move allows for a natural streamlining of regional responsibilities and help to drive synergies among its brands, to add more value for its clients and candidates.
