Lookalikes recruitment agency back on our screens

As Lookalikes, a TV show about a recruitment agency that places people who resemble celebrities, returned to our screens this week, Recruiter spoke to its star Ricky Gervais – no sorry, our mistake! – Tim Oliver (above, left).

Oliver, who makes a living impersonating David Brent (played by Gervais) in the BBC TV comedy The Office, told Recruiter the first show, in which he heavily featured, had gone down really well with viewers.

According to Oliver, a lot of viewers have said the show was better than the first series because it was nearer the knuckle and exploited the “shock factor”.

He explained the first episode saw him borrow £15k from Gordon Ramsey lookalike Martin Jordan to start up his own dating show the ‘Celebrity Lookalike sex mansion’ on the promise he can find Jordan a date.

“People have been saying that should be made into a TV show with me hosting it,” Oliver told Recruiter.

“The first episode got some great feedback, so fingers crossed the next few episodes will also get some great feedback. There’s some good storylines – some funny, cringy stuff happening.”

Lookalikes is on Wednesdays at 10.30pm on Channel 4.
