Alf Ramsey letter is a winner at auction

Rather like the England team last night, who snatched a last-minute victory, the letter confirming Sir Alf Ramsey’s appointment did better than expected at auction.

Yesterday Recruiter reported the letter confirming the recruitment of England’s only World Cup-winning manager was being put up for auction at Clarke and Simpson auction house in Framlingham, Suffolk, with an estimate of £600-£800.

According to the BBC, the letter did a little better than that and sold for £3,400.
