CV skills? Be yourself, unless you can be Batman

What weird ‘skills’ have you uncovered on a candidate’s CV? Can it beat ‘Elvish’ and Nadsat as language skills?

Analysis of more than 500 CVs by BrighterBox, a start-up which connect graduates across the country with London’s most up and coming start-ups, found candidates listing ‘Elvish’ as one of their spoken languages, inspired from JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, along with A Clockwork Orange’s fictional Nadsat language.

The Top 10 quirky things BrighterBox found on CVs include:

  • Fluent in French, Elvish and Nadsat
  • I worked here for three months and generally dossed around pretending to be more important that I was
  • Work experience: October – February: Full time jobseeker whilst travelling the world
  • Makes a superb cup of tea and an average cup of coffee
  • Spent my days interning – stuffing and licking envelopes… I can still taste the glue!
  • BTEC in Indian head massaging
  • Interests: watching the sunrise and the sun set… and everything in between
  • I’ve got a Guinness World Record in something – you can ask me what at the interview
  • Willing to work in exchange for monetary compensation
  • “Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman… then always be Batman”

• Can you beat any of these? Let us know! Email us at [email protected] or tweet us below to tell us your thoughts. We will run comments online in a round-up at the end of the week.
