A quarter of recruiters think Brexit will be good for their business

One in four recruiters believe the UK’s exit from the EU will have a positive impact on their business, according to research.

A survey of more than 100 recruitment professionals found that 26% expected Brexit to boost their fortunes.

Although 55% thought there would be a negative impact from the decision to leave the union – with the remainder not expecting any change – the results show a significant minority anticipating a Brexit boost.

The poll, by contracting solutions provider Advance, found that more than half of respondents had noticed no change in contractor demand since the shock referendum result almost a year ago.

More people said they expected contractor demand to rise once the UK had left the EU than predicted it to fall.

Advance managing director Shaun Critchley said: “The consensus seems to be that the labour market has been ticking along pretty much as normal since the referendum and will continue to do so until we have actually left the EU.

“It’s at this point – with the anticipated restrictions on immigration – that recruiters expect to see a spike in contract and temporary hires.”
