Spurs scores with 1,000th job connected to new stadium

Tottenham Hotspur has delivered its 1,000th new job connected to the construction of its new stadium set to open in time for the 2018-19 season.

In a statement, released this week, the Premier League club revealed 1,000 new jobs across a range of industries including construction, IT, hospitality, retail and sport have already been delivered through the club’s investment into the regeneration of the local area around Tottenham.

The club adds that since 2013 it has worked in partnership with Haringey Council and the Department for Work and Pensions to ensure as many jobs as possible emerging from the development have gone to local residents, while also working with individuals across the community helping with writing CVs, supporting the jobs application process, and providing access to training and employment opportunities.

Recruitment has also been supported by jobs fairs and other activities led and hosted by the club’s charity the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.

When complete, the new stadium development is expected to support more than 3,700 jobs.
