Jackie Bennett is to succeed Liz Longman as managing director of The Employment Agent’s Movement (TEAM), with Longman retiring at the end of the year.

Longman has been in the recruitment sector for around 20 years having started as a trainee manager at high street agency Personnel Selection before becoming a regional director responsible for a number of branch locations and subsequently moving on to head up TEAM back in 2006.

“I have enjoyed every moment of my role within TEAM,” Longman said in a statement. “To be part of, and lead, such a vibrant network is very fulfilling. Although I am sad to be stepping down from being the managing director I know the role will be in safe hands with Jackie Bennett.”

Longman’s successor Bennett joined TEAM in April this year as her deputy and has spent the last six months meeting many recruiters at TEAM’s 650 member locations across the UK.

Commenting on her appointment, Bennett added: “I still have a lot of members to meet and no doubt still a lot to learn, but I look forward to continuing to add to the great things that Liz and her team have achieved in recent years.”

Bennett took up her new role on 1 October but Longman will continue to assist her until the end of the year. TEAM adds they hope Longman will continue her involvement with TEAM, acting as a consultant on special projects from time to time such as TEAM’s annual networking conference.

Helping employees overcome imposter syndrome

A new role can trigger ‘imposter syndrome’, the feeling of self-doubt experienced by over 60% of UK workers about their work accomplishments. They believe they don’t deserve their jobs or success or that they can never meet others’ expectations. As a result, they feel like imposters or frauds at the workplace – and it doesn’t matter how high you’ve risen in the organisation or if your achievements are staggering. In fact, it’s experienced commonly as we take on more responsibility.
