The Crown Commercial Service, an executive agency of the Cabinet Office, has appointed entrepreneur and author Emma Jones MBE as small business crown representative.

In her new role, working with government departments and the Crown Commercial Service, Jones will help smaller businesses in the UK bid for and win important government contracts.

This supports the government’s manifesto commitment to spend £1 in every £3 with small to medium-enterprises (SMEs) by 2020.

Other significant appointments related to the world of recruitment, as a result of new PM Theresa May’s Cabinet reshuffle, include:

• Ben Gummer MP as minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General
