Global recruiter Spencer Ogden has appointed sector heads in rail, aerospace & defence and construction as it embarks on a new diversification and growth strategy.

In a statement, the group revealed it is expanding its business due to more energy candidates moving into engineering and manufacturing.

The new hires include Richard Thompson, who launches the firm’s UK rail division as sector head, joining from construction and engineering recruiter Mane Contract Services, where he was sales director.

Mark Jackson, former team lead at engineering recruiter Roevin, joins to head up the aerospace & defence division, while Will Carter, previously a managing consultant at built environment staffing specialist Amida Recruitment, has joined Spencer Ogden’s Singapore office to head up its non-energy construction division.

At board level, earlier this year former Hydrogen finance director John Glover joined as chief financial officer, while SThree’s former deputy head of legal Greg Morris joined as group head of legal & compliance.
