US healthcare staffing specialist Cross Country Healthcare is to acquire Mediscan, Mediscan Diagnostic Services and Mediscan Nursing Staffing, which provides temporary workers to the healthcare and education sectors.

According to a Cross Country Healthcare statement, Mediscan is headquartered in California and provides its services across 11 states to more than 300 clients.

The transaction, worth about US$28m (£18.1m) in cash and $5m in Cross Country Healthcare shares, is expected to close in Q4 this year. 

One of Mediscan’s founding members, Val Serebryany, as well as its president and chief executive Dennis Ducham, will remain with the business after the transaction closes.
