China has adopted new measures to select public institution managers, including allowing the use of headhunters, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua.

A statement issued Tuesday by the general office of the Communist Part of China Central Committee says a more competitive selection process will be introduced, including entrusting “relevant agencies” to select leaders. 

Professor Wang Yukai, of the Chinese Academy of Governance, was quoted as saying the move will help implement reforms of public institutions and enable them to provide better services. 

Xinhua’s report said China has more than a million public institutions, which mainly engage in education, technological, cultural and health services.

Meanwhile, as reported by recruiter.co.uk, companies in China prefer using headhunting firms for manager-level professionals, according to a survey by RMG Selection.
