The US Department of Labor has announced $15m (£10.2m) in Disability Employment Initiative grants to help disabled people access pre-employment training.

State workforce agencies will be able to access the grants to develop flexible strategies to increase the participation of people with disabilities in federally-funded education and training programmes.

The department expects to make eight grants, each worth between $1.5m and £2.5m to be spread across projects targeting three populations – adults with disabilities (aged 18 and over); youth with disabilities (aged 14-24); and individuals with significant disabilities (aged 14 and over).
