Manufacturing jobs continue to rise but jobs growth rate slows

Job creation in the UK’s manufacturing sector has increased for the 23rd month in a row, according to the Markit/Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Purchasing Managers’ Index for March 2015.

Figures obtained by Recruiter show March’s employment data indicated a reading of 52.3, the lowest since last October but still representing growth in employment in the manufacturing sector dating back to May 2013. Any reading over 50 signals growth.
Meanwhile, the overall index reading, which measures activity in the sector reached an eight-month peak of 54. The PMI has now remained above 50 for 24 months in a row.
