Thu, 5 Mar 2015Three people have been charged as part of an operation involving the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) and East Anglian police forces.

Last April arrests were made by officers from Norfolk and Suffolk Police forces investigating people trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation.

A warrant was executed in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, resulting in a number of arrests of locals involved in vegetable and meat processing.

On Wednesday [4 March] charges were brought against Konstantin Sasmurin and Linus Ratautas for acting as a gangmaster without a licence, holding a person in slavery or requiring a person to perform forced or compulsory labour, trafficking people and exploitation, and money laundering.

Evelina Perekriostovai, meanwhile, was charged on one count of money laundering.

The trio has been bailed to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on 1 April.
