Executive search consultancy Perrett Laver has been appointed to recruit a chief executive or founding president for a brand new university, New Model in Technology & Engineering (NMITE), which is being launched tomorrow [5 March].
Perrett Laver will look at candidates from across the globe to fill the role at NMITE, located in Hereford.
The university, although a not-for-profit institution, will be run as a company and therefore recruitment for other positions – chief academic officer, chief operating officer, finance director and marketing director – will take place at a later date, in consultation with the chief executive.
A statement from the university says it aims to “radically change the way engineering and related technologies are taught in Britain”, as well as tackle skills shortages within these industries.
Graduates will learn not just about their chosen field but also about broader business innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership skills.
The university, inspired by the Olin College of Engineering in the US, will officially open its doors to 300 students in September 2017. The university will have capacity for 5,000 students and will create up to 500 teaching jobs.
It is backed by the universities of Bristol and Warwick and supported by Olin College.
