Pension Tracing Service to initially seek internal talent to fill 32 new roles

The Pension Tracing Service will seek to fill 32 new roles internally before turning to the civil service’s career website, due to an expansion brought about by greater pension freedoms set to be introduced by government in April.
Mon, 2 Feb 2015The Pension Tracing Service will seek to fill 32 new roles internally before turning to the civil service’s career website, due to an expansion brought about by greater pension freedoms set to be introduced by government in April.

People approaching retirement will be able to take more of their pension as cash, or ‘drawdown’ more of it as income, as opposed to the previous system where they were required to take their pension as a guaranteed income known as an annuity.

Due to the changes, the government anticipates more enquiries from people seeking to trace lost pension pots, so the Newcastle-based Pension Tracing Service is to triple its number of staff, taking its total headcount to 49.

A spokesperson for the service told Recruiter it will initially try and fill the roles internally.

“If that’s not possible, we will then go to external recruitment using our own civil service recruitment website,” he added.
