Tue, 6 Jan 2015The new InterContinental London – The O2, an 18-storey luxury hotel due to open in Greenwich late this year, will create more than 500 jobs, the company behind the development has announced.

The Arora Group is responsible for developing, managing and operating the new hotel, and has committed to filling 40% of those vacancies from the local community within the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Job opportunities will include a range of permanent and flexible positions, including 350 front and back of house positions and as many as an additional 300 casual roles in banqueting and events.

The roles will be recruited for by Arora's in-house team.

The group will work with the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Greenwich University and the Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB) group to promote opportunities across the borough and attract graduates to the hotel.

The group is also developing an apprenticeship scheme for roles in certain departments, in association with the GLLaB group and local colleges that specialise in events, marketing, hospitality and tourism.

The number of apprenticeships offered will depend on demand.

No further information on the apprenticeships was available.
