More than 25,000 people have gained employment in multinational corporations and Indian IT firms over the past year using fake work experience certificates, the Daily Mail has reported.

Bangalore police recently busted the fake certificate scam. Raids on recruitment agencies are continuing and 26 people, who were running seven different IT recruitment agencies, have already been arrested.
As many as 169 IT firms based out of Bangalore have issued fake work experience certificates to the more than 25,000 candidates for fees ranging from Rs15k (£152) to Rs50k.
Some of the 169 firms are shell companies that exist only on paper.
