Asia Pacific is home to the most savvy online talent sourcers, while those in the Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) region are the most prolific users of Twitter to connect with candidates, according to a new report on global sourcing trends.
EMEA sourcers also show the world’s highest use of YouTube to communicate their employer brand, says the 2014 Global Sourcing Survey, produced by talent acquisition and management services provider Alexander Mann Solutions (AMS) and online and social media training firm Social Talent.
The report underlines the evolution of the talent sourcer to become “one of the most critical roles in talent acquisition”, says AMS brand and marketing lead Martin Cerullo, in a statement accompanying the launch of the report.
The report says that few sourcers are using tools such as Twitter, Facebook and Google+ to their full potential. It notes that 31% of the 328 sourcers surveyed report restrictions on using social media channels in their place of work. However, 41% of those restricted sourcers instead access social sites via their personal devices.
The survey also suggests that “sourcing is really more art than science”, said Nick Greenston, director of SourceCloud, AMS’s talent acquisition tool.
The survey was conducted in the first quarter of 2014.
