Up to 300 jobs are to be created by 2017 in the Geelong, Australia, headquarters of retailer Cotton On following a government grant.
The grant, of A$8.7m (£4.7m) from the Australian and Victorian governments’ A$29.5m Geelong Region Innovation and Investment Fund (GRIIF), will allow the company to expand its head office in North Geelong.
The expansion will create job opportunities for specialist retail and visual merchandising staff, as well as for workers with expertise in design, marketing and e-commerce.
In a statement, Australian minister for industry Ian Macfarlane said the company was a “local success story”.
It employs more than 1,100 local workers.
It was announced earlier this month that up to 200 jobs were being created in a meat processing plant in Colac after a similar grant was awarded.
The GRIIF is also supported by businesses Ford Australia and Alcoa of Australia.
