A focus on its niche specialisms of analytics and digital technology has proved to be a clear benefit for IT recruitment group InterQuest.

The group has announced an unaudited, interim net fee income increase of 34% to £11.4m in the six months to 30 June and attributed some of that to a continued improvement in contract recruitment gross margins, which it says was helped by its niche focus.

In a statement, chief executive Mark Braund said: “Our focus on specialist disciplines in key niche markets driven by the emerging importance of big data underpins our success.”

He said the group was operating at the “leading edge of the analytics and digital technology revolution”.

Other highlights were:
  • Revenue up 30% to £73m
  • Permanent recruitment fees up 29% to £3.7m
  • Adjusted EBITDA [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation] up 85% to £2.4m
  • Adjusted profit before tax up 82% to £2.2m
