Wed, 7 May 2014The competition for talent in Texas is increasing, according to a recent survey of Texan human resource leaders and company executives.

The research by Novotus, the Texas-based recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) firm, has shown most companies are seeing the competition for the employees they need increase (72.5%), while only 1.8% is seeing the competition for talent decreasing.

At the same time, 75.2% of those surveyed believe hiring has become more difficult over the past 12 months.

“The competition for people has been increasing here in Texas for some time,” says Novotus founder and chief executive officer Mike Mayeux.

“But recruiting has become noticeably more challenging in the past 12 months. We expect that trend to accelerate based on the number of companies that are expanding and relocating to the state. While the economy continues to struggle in many parts of the country, growth is very strong here, and that is changing the recruiting landscape for companies with operations in Texas.”

That growth is evident from the companies surveyed. In the next six months, 30.3% plan to hire more employees than they did in the last six months, while 43.1% plan to hire at about the same rate.
