Thu, 3 Apr 2014 Niche digital jobs board Bubble Jobs has pledged to train career advisers at universities as part of an EU initiative to tackle the shortfall of talented ICT experts across the continent.

Bubble Jobs made the commitment to the EU initiative, the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, which it joined recently. Samsung, Accenture, HP and Google, among others are already members of the coalition that aims address Europe’s predicted 900,000 shortfall of skilled ICT professionals by 2020.

Bubble Jobs managing director Adam Butwilowski says: “Through talking to students at various career fairs and career advisers themselves, we realised there was a severe lack of knowledge in this area regarding digital careers, so we wanted to do our bit to address the problem.

“We’re already planning our first pilot event with Manchester Metropolitan University – and the aim of these events is really to ‘educate the educator’.

“If we can keep career advisers in the loop regarding digital jobs and the changes in the industry, they’ll be better placed to provide valuable, relevant career advice to their students and graduates. That should, in turn, help to address the current skills shortage which is evident right across the digital sector.”

Bubble Jobs has also vowed to help raise awareness and promote digital apprenticeships to UK jobseekers and small to medium-sized businesses.

This will include the ongoing creation of useful and relevant content on a dedicated apprenticeship section of Bubble's digital career portal, promoting digital apprenticeships via a dedicated Twitter account, and pro-actively promoting the courses to both a jobseeker and employer audience via their online channels.
