Russian employers are not planning to decrease headcount, despite geopolitical and economic uncertainty caused by events in Ukraine, according to Antal Russia.

A survey carried out between 18-20 March found that only 16% said they planned to cut staff in the next three to six months, with 62% saying they had no intention to reduce staff numbers. However, one in 20 (6%) said they had already begun shedding staff.

The Antal survey indicated that finance, marketing and HR were among the most possible likely departments to see cuts.

The research found that despite the turbulence and uncertainty caused by events in Ukraine, 60% of the respondents are not going to stop hiring people for new roles. However, only a quarter of employers will open up vacancies to replace the employees that left.
