Employment in Ireland’s construction industry received a major boost after international ICT company Intel said that expanding its facility in Leixlip, County Kildare would lead to 5,000 jobs.

The Irish minister for jobs, enterprise and innovation, Richard Bruton, said yesterday [27 March]: “Today’s confirmation that it [Intel] has invested $5bn (£3bn) and is employing 5,000 people in construction as part of its latest project shows just how important it is for Ireland. We look forward to working with Intel in future years to continue to develop and strengthen its hugely important business here.”
