The US economy added 113,000 jobs in January, as unemployment fell to 6.6%, the lowest rate since October 2008.

However, the rise in employment was less than the 180,000 new jobs predicted by the US Labor Department.

The construction industry added 48,000 jobs, while jobs in manufacturing grew by 21,000.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, between March 2013 and June 2013, there was a net increase in jobs of 666,000, with all sectors adding more jobs except education and health services. There was no net change in employment in the utilities sector.
