Thu, 9 Jan 2014The Belgium economy grew by 0.3% on the previous quarter in Q3 2013, however, the improvement has so far failed to have an impact on the jobs market.

During the third quarter of 2013 the number of job vacancies fell and the unemployment rate increased, according to a report from Federgon, the federation of HR service providers.

The report says: “We do not foresee any improvement in the coming quarters. Businesses remain very cautious about hiring. Due to cost-cutting measures, the number of jobs in the public sector is down and the construction sector is also struggling to maintain its workforce.”

Skill-based hiring (SBH) is a hiring strategy that focuses on recruiting and selecting candidates based primarily on their demonstrated ability to perform each skill required for the position.
