This is one of the findings of the latest Labour Market Statistics from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), released yesterday and once again showing positive indicators.
From a peak of 6.34m people working in the public sector in Q3 2009, every quarter since had seen a drop in that workforce until Q2 2013, when it reached 5.7m, the lowest level since 2001.
The 4,000 extra jobs created in public sector organisations across the quarter is still dwarfed by the 246,000 roles added by the private sector – where jobs having been rising in every quarter since the start of 2010 to a new record of 24.4m
