The plan to make the move was reported by recruiter.co.uk last month – with an office in Brazil also expected by the end of the year.
The office in the German capital of Berlin is led by Andrew Roberts (pictured), the manager for the DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) region, who joined the firm in August, and has 15 years of recruitment experience, most recently leading his own agency Cypher Europe. His team is currently four strong.
Roberts says: “Germany’s energy market is undergoing major changes; because of ‘Energiewende’ [the transition to 100% renewable energy sources] our major focus will be on the renewable sector – by 2050, 80% of German power will be from renewable energy sources.” Advanced biomass, hydroelectric and wind will be key areas.
This is Spencer Ogden’s first office in continental Europe, its 10th overall, and the first since the August hire of a new contracts director with responsibility for EMEA expansion, Nick Barker.
