Mon, 23 Sep 2013Jobseekers are damaging their chances of employment by not tailoring their CVs to specific job vacancies, according to a survey by the National Careers Service.

The survey found that the most common failing among jobseekers was sending a general CV to employers, rather than tailoring it to a specific role. Two-thirds of careers advisers said this stopped people securing jobs, while 60% of advisers said spelling mistakes were a common error.

Other errors likely to see candidates rejected were overly-long CVs and grammatical errors.
