Other key players in the UK sourcing space include global recruiter Hays with nearly 35 and consultancy Talent Works International with just over 10. They are followed in order by Google, Santander, Amazon, ATA Recruitment, research consultancy Gartner, REED, Royal Bank of Scotland, JAM Recruitment, aerospace & defence manufacturer EADS, global manufacturing & industrial equipment supplier SPX Corporation, consultancy Accenture and HSBC.
Ralph Meyer, EMEIA talent search senior associate at EY [formerly Ernst & Young], shared his reseOarch into the state of sourcing for recruitment in the UK at the Discover Sourcing conference in London on Wednesday [18 September 2013].
Meyer’s research also revealed that 65% of the more than 300 sourcers operating in the UK are women.
While noting that “sourcing is becoming a recognised skillset”, Meyer also pointed out that most sourcers operating in the UK have limited experience, with the vast majority having two years or less in the discipline.
“As an industry, it is totally developing,” Meyer told the audience.
Many recruiters “live on” professional networking site LinkedIn to pinpoint potential candidates, Meyer said, instead of deploying the various tools and techniques of the professional sourcer.
“We can’t live on LinkedIn forever,” Meyer said. “The results are just not sustainable.”
